The Clape massive, «a heap of boulders and stones» in occitan language, spreads its plains and valleys over 15 000 hectares.
It is a fragile environment swept by winds coming from the North (Cers = very dry wind) and the « Marin » (wind coming from the South and salted spindrift).
This chalky and stonly massive shelters a garrigue composed of Alep pine trees or umbrella pines, thyme, lavender or sloe berries, rosemary, honeysuckle etc…. Here and there hills and valleys are covered with vineyards.
In Summer the garrigue is extremely inflammable. It is prohibited to make fires in the garrigue, let’s save our environment !
